A very impressive photo series. I wonder what we'll say in twenty years when the Middle iMac 2007 will be
among the collections of old PCs.

It's hilarious looking at the prices on old computers ... I have a feeling that the people who have bought the biggest, most-future ready LCD TVs, mp3 players, digital cameras, etc must also feel the same way about their purchases. US$7,800 for an Apple //? It's comparable to my digital camera (which I still have, by the way), bought in around 2002 for about $300. You can now get one with twenty times the resolution, picture memory, and different features for around a hundred dollars. $300 will get you something top of the line, which ours certainly wasn't at the time! It can be hard determining what features are future-proofing, and what is just a waste of money :-) But great post - trip down memory lane, alright!

Great and fassinating piece. You can see the original iMac design really as far back as the Macintosh 1984 with its simple, all-in-one casing. That first Mac Portable looks horrid these days when compared to a modern day MacBook but I suppose at the time it was cutting edge. I wonder if any of these older macs are considered collectors items and with prices to match these days?

Yeah, back when DTP "desktop publishing" was still an acronym to be reckoned with.. Phew, come to think of it, I even remember the smell of those old Apple pamphlets :) with the Mac Classic and LE that you mentioned in the article..
